Building on our foundation to strengthen the
leadership potential of individuals working to create a
healthy future for our children, we launch The Global
Leadership Initiative (GLI). The GLI is an umbrella
effort that will champion innovation to ensure our children
have access to the resources and opportunities they need to
Finish Strong! This fall we launch the Global Leadership
Fellows Program, The Henkel Global Leadership Conference and
The Global Leadership Community Initiative. These are in
addition to our flagship event, the Abbott Nutrition
RazorFest which we envision serving as a template for
replication in other sports venues.

The GLI
Fellows Program is an intensive, one-year program designed
to assist leaders in reaching a wider market with proven
health and wellness programs for children and families.
During their one-year fellowship, GLI Fellows strengthen
their existing programs and develop the skills, connections
and insights they need to lead major change efforts. They
will participate in a dynamic learning community comprised
of innovative nonprofit, academic, corporate and government
leaders engaged and committed to working for transformative
impact for children. This powerful learning community will
serve as both catalyst and support during this intensive
experience. As well, participants will receive the
individual coaching, mentoring and support they need to
address individual learning needs. Participants will:
-
Complete a three-year strategic growth
plan.
-
Develop funding goals and related
collateral that aligns with strategic plan.
-
Develop a performance measurement system.
-
Learn how to develop and manage strategic
corporate alliances.
-
Unique opportunities to engage
market leaders in strategies for market success.
-
Build a team to successfully implement
the next phase of strategic work.
During
the 12 months, partners go through an in depth assessment
and discovery process, learning about their personal and
organizational leadership strengths and opportunities for
growth. The first week will be spent in Bentonville,
Arkansas, collaborating with each other, learning with
seasoned professionals and engaging in dynamic learning
communities with fortune 500 global corporate leaders
recognized for innovation. Learning from global corporate
leaders, this forum will focus on preparing for market
success. There is a reason we host this in Bentonville,
Arkansas, home of Walmart. There is much to learn from and
with this global company and their community of corporate
partners. This week will be a powerful one that creates the
foundation for the rest of the year.
Champions
for Kids will manage and run The Global Leadership
Initiative with support team members in Boston, New
York, London and Washington D.C.

Henkel Global Leadership Conference
The Henkel Global Leadership Conference:
Helping Kids Finish Strong, October 26 & 27
in Northwest Arkansas will launch our national effort
to inspire and support leaders in developing state and local
collaborative efforts to create a more healthy future for
children in America and beyond.
This conference will be limited to 350 people
and will involve senior level leaders from the following
sectors: education, nonprofit, corporate, faith-based, high
school and university students and government leaders.
Serving as conveners for this inaugural conference are:
Bill Simon, Executive Vice President and COO Walmart
Stores
Margaret McKenna, Director of the Walmart Foundation
David Gergen, CNN Senior Political Analyst, Senior
Advisor to five White House presidents and Director for
Harvard's Center for Public Leadership
Billy Shore, Founder and Executive Director of Share
Our Strength, a national organization committed to
ending hunger in America.
This conference, ultimately, is about driving
action—not reflection. Participants will be challenged to
find ways to connect and drive meaningful change for and
with our youth. Forums will feature X-changes between the
nonprofit and for profit sectors, including our youth, to
best learn about challenges and opportunities for growth.
Forums will end with groups challenged to present innovative
ideas to drive conversations from learning to action.
