Global Leadership Initiate

The Global Leadership Fellows Program is an intensive, one-year program designed to assist nonprofit leaders in reaching a wider market with proven health and wellness programs for children and families. During their one-year fellowship, Global Leadership Fellows (GLF) strengthen their existing programs and develop the skills, connections and insights they need to lead major change efforts. They will participate in a dynamic learning community comprised of innovative nonprofit, academic, corporate and government leaders engaged and committed to working for transformative impact for children. This powerful learning community will serve as both catalyst and support during this intensive experience. As well, participants will receive the individual coaching, mentoring and support they need to address individual learning needs.

Participants will learn how to:

•           Develop a business plan to reach a larger market

•           Sharpen strategic goals and marketing platform

•           Generate greater value by developing strategic alliances with businesses

•           Manage the partnering relationship effectively

•           Incorporate earned-revenue strategies for sustainability

•           Strengthen organizational and corporate culture by promoting brand identity

•           Develop performance metrics to measure and report outcomes and impact

During the 12 months, partners go through an in depth assessment and discovery process, learning about their personal and organizational leadership strengths and opportunities for growth. The first week will be spent in Bentonville, Arkansas, collaborating with each other, learning with seasoned professionals and engaging in dynamic learning communities with global corporate leaders. Learning from global corporate leaders, this forum will focus on preparing for market success. There is a reason we host this in Bentonville, home of Walmart—the world’s number one retailer. There is much to learn from and with this global company and their community of corporate partners. This week will be a powerful one that creates the foundation for the rest of the year.

Participants will reconvene in Boston at the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard University. This forum will explore how social entrepreneurs can bring about widespread change on critical health issues by developing strategic alliances with public and private sectors. We will learn from successful nonprofit leaders how to build successful strategic partnerships. Expanding programs requires the leadership skills to successfully engage multiple sectors in major change efforts.

Champions for Kids targets local, regional, national and in the future, international organizations that have strong track records, good programs, effective leadership and are well-positioned for growth. We then work closely with these nonprofit leaders to help them take a proven local idea to the next level of impact.

The Global Leadership Fellows curriculum will be developed by Champions for Kids and in consultation with the Center for Public Leadership, Harvard University along with corporate advisory leaders from many leading Fortune 500 companies, leveraging the deep leadership knowledge and expertise of these global, corporate enterprises. Champions for Kids will manage and run The Global Leadership Initiatives with support advisors in Boston, New York and Washington D.C.
